Jesus taught, "Choose the path of the narrow gate, for the way is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and many follow it. The gate is narrow and the road is constricted that leads to life, and only a few discover it" (Matthew 7:13–14). Embarking on the journey through the "narrow gate" demands determination and selfless love. To traverse the constrained and demanding road, we must confront the challenging facets of our lives, including acknowledging and addressing our sins.

Mass for Peace - Monday 7th October - 6.30 pm

Our Holy Father Pope Francis has asked everyone to observe a day of prayer and fasting for peace in the world on Monday 7th October: we will celebrate Mass for peace at 6.30 pm, preceded by Eucharistic Adoration, in which we adore the Prince of Peace present in our midst, at 5.45 pm.

The current conflict in the Holy Land, the latest iteration in a dispute that has gone back centuries, began on 7th October 2023. The Holy See has constantly called for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine that recognises Israel’s right to security and Palestinians’ right to self-determination.

Last Sunday, Pope Francis declared: ‘I continue to follow with sorrow and much concern the widening and intensification of the conflict in Lebanon. Lebanon is a message, but right now it is a war-torn message, and this war is having devastating effects on the population: many, too many people continue to die day after day in the Middle East. We pray for the victims and their families, and we pray for peace. I call on all parties to stop immediately all hostilities in Lebanon, in Gaza, in the rest of Palestine, in Israel. Release the hostages and allow humanitarian aid. Let us not forget war-torn Ukraine.’ Let us pray that all sides in the ongoing conflicts will seek a true and lasting peace in which the God-given dignity of all is affirmed, so that all can flourish.
